Activists of Jamiat Ulema-e Islam (JUI) and students of different seminaries staged a protest against the Supreme Court (SC) judgement wherein the top court rejected a review petition against its decision to acquit Aasia Bibi in a blasphemy case.

The protesters gathered in front of National Press Club and staged a protest against the apex court verdict. They were of the view that decision regarding Aasia's acquittal was taken under foreign pressure. They demanded to take back the decision; otherwise, they would prolong their protest. The protesters were carrying placards and banners inscribed with slogans against the apex court decision. A great number of police personnel were deployed near the protesters in order to avert any untoward situation. The protesters claimed that the apex court decision is not only controversial but it is also against Islam. The city police strengthened security across the city and deputed huge number of police personnel at Faizabad Interchange, D Chowk and National Press Club in the wake of protest. However, the protesters dispersed peacefully after staging the protest.
